Community
I recently spoke at a yarn swap. I had never heard of a yarn swap, but I knew people who created beautiful things with yarn, and I was excited to be included in a small way in their gathering.
Yarn Swap
This community of crafters and creators gathered for fun, food, and fellowship, and the opportunity to exchange yarn that they no longer wanted or needed. They formed quite a crowd, and everyone was having a great time.
In communities, people engage with one another and develop relationships over time, often around a common interest.. They feel a sense of belonging.
At our church preschool, we have a saying, “Once a little lamb, always a little lamb.” When a child and his or her family become part of our preschool community, they belong. We will always consider them to be a part of that community.

God designed us to be in relationship, creating communities with one another. In Genesis, the Lord noted that it was not good for Adam to be alone, and He created a helper, a partner, a wife, to be with him.
In the book of Ecclesiastes, God speaks through the writer to let His people know that two are better than one, and why. Their work together is blessed, and they support and encourage one another.
And finally, in Hebrews, God encourages the church to “not neglect meeting together as is the habit of some.” When our church community gathers together for worship, fellowship, and service, everyone is encouraged.
Besides my church community, I love being a part of the Body & Soul® Fitness community. Students share a common interest and enjoy working out together to uplifting music. Instructors endeavor to help new students feel a sense of belonging. These communities support and encourage one another.

What communities do you feel a part of? Are there communities you would like to engage with? Most likely, they would love to have you. Ask the Lord to guide you into just the right friend groups, where you feel blessed and, in turn, can be a blessing to others!
